In the Spirit of Jefferson Davis (part five)

Part five.   Early in his Presidency, Trump picked Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as his first National Security Advisor, and he did so despite being warned by former President Obama and ranking members of the US Intelligence community warning that Flynn was up-to-his eyeballs in National Security risks.   Flynn didn’t even last a full two months, he holds the record of being the shortest-serving in that post in US history. He resigned in disgrace in 2017 after he was caught lying to Vice-President Mike Pence about his associations with Russian officials. He became one of the people the Russian Investigation most focused on and, before that year was out, pled guilty twice to lying to the FBI about his Russian relationships and other questionable foreign associations. Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan told Flynn in 2018, “You sold your country out.”   In early 2020, Flynn would hire Attorney Sidney Powell, later a key player in the post-Election chaos, and w...

in the spirit of Jefferson Davis (part four)

Part four.   "Where ballots fail, bullets will prevail" was a favorite catch phrase of Right-wing, White Nationalist, and Terrorist Mentor Louis Beam, who was the great popularizer of the idea of “Leaderless Resistance,” itself a variation of “the idea and the deed” promoted by Left-leaning Anarchists in the late-19 th and early 20 th centuries. The Terrorist network of Dash (my preferred nomenclature for what most people prefer to call ISIS) operated under Military structures in those regions where they needed to capture and control territories, in places where mayhem alone was the goal, their tactics were using Social Media as a recruiting tool, and those ...

In the Spirit of Jefferson Davis (part three)

Part three.   “Stop the Steal,” a call to arms coined 2016, became increasingly bandied about in September 2020. It became the rallying cry of Trump’s a huge following, who had various levels of organization, resources, and connection to him personally.   September 7 th , Conservative Activist Ali Alexander became prominent figure when he created a digital infrastructure for the “Stop the Steal” effort. He announced a database for Trump supporters so they could dispatch themselves to ballot counting locations and State Officials’ offices if their “physical presence is needed.” This grew out of charges, for which there was no substantiation, that Republican-leaning, anti-corruption, “Poll Watchers” were not being given proper access to voting sites. These Poll Watchers had, in the past, been accused of intimidating private citizens whom the Watchers accused of extremely rare crime of in-person voter fraud; now the Watchers were claiming that they, themselves, wer...
